Meal Times

Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner it's always a good idea to feed the children something healthy. Something fun to do for the child you are watching is make a menu for your meal time with a few choices and let the kids order from it. It will give them more choices and they will like pretending they are in a restaurant!! (Kids have big imaginations) While in the kitchen make sure there are no knives or other dangerous, sharp objects around. If you are watching a baby than make sure not to hold a baby while working near a stove or carrying a hot drink. If you are watching young kids or toddlers make sure to put there drinks in sipee cups. Most definately never let children run or play with food in their mouths. If you are cooking something that the kids can help you with then let them. Kids enjoy helping out when they can. If while you are cooking it envolves the oven, knives, or anything dangerous than don't let the children help. Following these few tips will help make meal time more fun and safe!!!!

Healthy Drink

Having a hard time thinking of snacks to feed the kids at snack time? Try a smoothie it's a snack, it's tasty, and it's also delicious. (Have each child pick out there fave fruit.)

Ingridients:

  • One cup of fruit
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar (or to make it healthier squirt in a little bit of honey instead of sugar)
  • One cup of crushed ice
  • One cup of plain low fat yogurt

Directions:

  1. Put Yogurt in blender
  2. Put ice in blender
  3. Put fruit in blender
  4. Put honey or sugar in blender
  5. Take a spoon and mix it up a little
  6. Put lid on blender and blend
  7. Every once in a while check to see if all the fruit is blended if it is than your smoothie is done
  8. put in a fun looking cup and serve

(find out what allergies the child you are watching is allergic to before you feed them something)

ACTIVITIES to do with the KIDS

Here are a few activities you can do with the kids you are watching...........

  • Go to the park for an hour or two (ask parents if it is OK to take children to the park)
  • Play a board game with them (age appropriate)
  • Dress-up if there are funny clothes to dress up in and you are watching kids ages three to six than u might want to play this game with them. (kids love dressing up and u can dress up 2)
  • Take them swimming (if there parents allow it)
  • If you are watching a girl and they have Barbies/Polly pockets than can play dolls with them
  • If you are watching a boy and they have action figures than u can play with them with him
  • If you can drive or if your mom/dad is willing to drive you than u can take the children to McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King etc..... and you can take them to the pet store.(make sure they do not have allergies before you take them to the pet store)
  • If they are old enough have them help you cook a tasty treat. (do not let them use sharp knives or anything else dangerous)

These activities should keep you and the child(ren) your watching busy for a while. and You will both (all) have fun!!!

How Much Money 2 Charge

Are you wondering how much money you should charge per hour? Most girls usually charge four to six dollars an hour for one child. If you are watching two children you might want to charge around 6 to 8 dollars per hour. Three children or more is allot so you would want to charge around 9-12 dollars per hour. You might want to charge a few dollars extra if you are taking care of a baby because baby's can be hard to take care of..... If you have any more questions about babysitting than send me a comment and i will answer it if i can...

THE BABYSITTERS BACKPACK

IF YOU'RE A BABYSITTER IT'S ALWAYS A GOOD IDEA TO HAVE A BACKPACK. I like to call it the handy pack. You will want to put items in your pack that can keep the kids busy. Some items you might want to put in your back pack are..................

  • Your safety kit
  • Children's Bible (to read to the children)
  • Movies/DVDs that the kids can watch ( make sure the movies you bring are age appropriate and ask the parents if the child can watch the movie before you let them watch it)
  • Art supplies fabric, paint, safety scissors, glue, buttons, string, etc.. (if children are old enough to be using these items)
  • travel sized games
  • cards (to play with or to build a deck of cards house)
  • paper/colored pencils/markers/crayons (a few coloring books)

Be sure to restock each item after every time you babysit. For more babysitting tips and ideas you can go to christianbabysitter.homestead.com/

THE SAFETY KIT

One item you must have when babysitting is a safety kit. Here is what you must keep in it, just in case of an emergency.

  • Bandaids (all sizes and colors)
  • Gauge pads and a roll of gauge bandage
  • Cold pack (in a fun shape or color)
  • Blunt scissors
  • Disposable gloves
  • Tweezers
  • Hand wipes and hand cleaner
  • Pen and paper
  • Antiseptic spray
  • First aid manual
  • Cotton balls
  • Small falshlight (incase the power goes out)

When ever you babysit you should always bring your safety kit with you. Before begining to babysit you might want to take classes at your local red cross on babysitting and safety. That way you feel more prepared and you might evan get more customers.
